Circa 2200 BCE: Changes rocking the Continent reach Eire with the dawning Bronze Age. Well before any Celts, marauders invade the island seeking copper and gold. The young astronomer Boann and the enigmatic Cian need all their wits and courage to save their people and their great Boyne mounds, when long bronze knives challenge the peaceful native starwatchers. Banished to far coasts, Cian discovers how to outwit the invaders at their own game. Tensions on Eire between new and old cultures and between Boann, Elcmar, and her son Aengus, ultimately explode. What emerges from the rubble of battle are the legends of Ireland’s beginnings in a totally new light.

Larger than myth, this tale echoes with medieval texts, and cult heroes modern and ancient. By the final temporal twist, factual prehistory is bending into images of leprechauns who guard Eire’s gold for eternity. As ever, the victors will spin the myths.

This story appeals to fans of solid historical fiction, myth and fantasy, archaeo-astronomy, and Bronze Age Europe.

BENDING THE BOYNE draws on 21st century archaeology to show the lasting impact when early metal mining and trade take hold along north Atlantic coasts. Carved megaliths and stunning gold artifacts, from the Pyrenees up to the Boyne, come to life in this researched historical fiction.

…A useful fleshing of the bones
of an interesting archaeological story.
William OBrien, PhD, University College Cork, Cork, Ireland.

…Bang-on with the latest archaeological debates.

ALAYSHA is a witch who has more power than she can control and her father uses that gift to decimate his enemies. Over her eighteen years, her power has enabled him to become the Emir of a large land, where even as the conqueror’s daughter, she suffers the prejudice and fear of those around her. When she is asked to use her psychic ability to annihilate yet another peaceful village, she doesn’t realize it is the last of her own mother’s tribe, and only discovers too late that the battle she has won for her father may cost her the only connection she has to her past, and with it the secrets to managing her gift.

She needs to find the one person who managed to escape her power, the charismatic Yenic, a youth who seems to know more than he wants to tell and who has become the target of her father’s next campaign. With orders to kill, she sets out on a mission of her own very much in contrast to the one her megalomaniac father wishes her to fulfill. The trouble is, there is someone else out there who would use the water witch and her magic for his own gain, and unless she can find a way to consolidate who is the real enemy from supposed ones, her entire homeland of Sarum, the only three people she loves, and countless other innocent people will die.

Water Witch is the first in a fantasy adventure series that takes the reader on a journey of action and adventure, strong female characters, and of course a touch of steamy romance that will resonate with girls of all ages.  In a world where magic is a liability to those warriors who possess it, sometimes the only rescue is love.

Being a lifelong reader of fantasy and sci-fi, I was very pleasantly surprised at the originality and freshness in this story. The author not only managed to create unique, rich, vibrant characters, but an entire world that seemed new to me. And while YA is not my usual genre, I’ll be eagerly awaiting the next installment in this excellent series!   – anakronistical

Space germs wipe out virtually everyone who has passed through puberty.

Abby Leigh is looking forward to watching the moon turn purple. For months, astronomers have been predicting that Earth will pass through the tail of a comet. They say that people will see colorful sunsets and, best of all, a purple moon.

But nobody has predicted the lightning-fast epidemic that sweeps across the planet on the night of the purple moon. The comet brings space dust with it that contains germs that attack human hormones. Older teens and adults die within hours of exposure.

On a small island off the coast of Maine, Abby must help her brother and baby sister survive in this new world, but all the while she has a ticking time bomb inside of her — adolescence.

Demon-possessed siege commander, Dahoud, atones for his atrocities by hiding his identity and protecting women from war’s violence – but can he shield the woman he loves from the evil inside him?

Principled weather magician, Merida, brings rain to a parched desert land. When her magical dance rouses more than storms, she needs to overcome her scruples to escape from danger.

Thrust together, Dahoud and Merida must fight for freedom and survival. But how can they trust each other, when hatred and betrayal burn in their hearts?

‘Storm Dancer’ is a dark epic fantasy. British spellings. Caution: this book contains some violence and disturbing situations. Not recommended for under-16s

Still not convinced? Here is the  “most helpful review” from Amazon:

This novel takes place in a fantasy world — but it’s not full of dragons and unicorns. It’s reminiscent of the Golden Age of Persia, full of cryptic soothsayers, scheming consorts, and ruthless satraps.

The main character, Dahoud, has faked his death because he’s sick of war and its atrocities. Unfortunately, as often happens in 20th-century thrillers, he’s just too damn good at war for the powers that be to leave him alone.

When Dahoud is dispatched to bring a rebellious province into the imperial fold, he plots to second-guess his manipulators. The idea is to accomplish the goal through wits and diplomacy, rather than the bloodbath the throne expects (and hopes for). To do this, Dahoud must gain the trust of the locals.

But the locals are justly outraged by the empire’s oppression, and want no part of Dahoud (except, perhaps, his severed head). Nor is Dahoud stepping into a leaderless power vaccuum: a charismatic, powerful chieftain already enjoys the people’s respect — and he doesn’t like Dahoud any more than they do!

Farther along, the heroine Merida arrives at the palace — like Dahoud, she’s assigned from afar to help people who don’t want her help. Her preferred method is to bring rain to parched lands with her magical “storm dancing”. Merida and Dahoud each must navigate tangled webs of betrayal and intrigue before their paths inevitably cross.

The quality of a story like this depends on the obstacles placed in the character’s way by the author . . . and this author is relentless. – Maeve Sawyer

Hetta Coffey is a woman with a yacht, and she’s not afraid to use it.
She’s a globe-trotting civil engineer with swath of failed multi-national affairs in her jet stream.

Plying the San Francisco waterfront, trolling for triceps, her attention is snagged by a parade of passing yachts–especially their predominantly male skippers–and experiences a champagne-induced epiphany: If she had a boat, she could get a man.

In spite of a spectacular ignorance of all things nautical, Hetta buys her dream boat, but shadowy stalker, an inconvenient body, and Hetta’s own self-destructive foibles, give a whole new meaning to the phrase “sink or swim!”

I was really thrilled to have gotten this fun book on audio, read by Beth Richmond. I recommend starting the series from Just Add Water. Hetta and best friend, Jan are on a perpetual man hunt as most their past relationships, haven’t ended well. When the book starts out, Hetta is living and working in Japan and engaged to Hudson Williams, when he jilts her days before the wedding. He’s packed his bags and off to catch a flight out of Japan but not before taking Hetta’s ATM card and draining her bank account.
A few years later Hetta is living and working in California. Had a couple unsuccessful relationships and she and her best friend Jan are always on the prowl for that elusive romance. Hetta’s inspired one day while brunching at the marina, that if she had a boat they’d meet a lot more men. The antics they get into while pursing this goal are hilarious. Hetta is so headstrong and outspoken that she finds herself in trouble a lot. Hetta, has a lot of misadventures while pursuing this dream, from the flooding of her house to someone breaking in and going through her things. Hetta, gets into many funny and often serious situations. A corpse in her hot tub is the hardest to explain her way out of.
If you enjoy a lot of fun and action packed adventure in your mystery books then you will love Just Add Water. It’s well written, fun, and you will not want to stop reading. In my case listening. I loved this book. Kudos to Ms.Schwartz for writing something fresh and original.   – asassyvic

Marilyn lives; JFK plot foiled?

On the night of Marilyn Monroe’s assumed death, Bobby Kennedy and Peter Lawford race to Marilyn’s house to find her nearly dead. Both men knew that she had vital information that members of the mob, political circles and someone much larger would kill her for.

Replacing the real Marilyn with an over dosed double, Peter and Bobby race to find out what she knew and who was behind her ‘suicide’ as well as what was planned for president John F. Kennedy.

With pressure to escalate the Vietnam conflict into a full blown war, Kennedy baulked and ordered a thousand troops to begin withdrawing. An evil presence, frustrated at the lack of cooperation from the president, decides to have him moved out of the way. Can Bobby and Peter find the source and stop them?

This fast paced alternate history fiction novel will keep you on the edge of your seat as Marilyn joins the fight for the man she loved.

The mystery author team, KR Hughes and TL Burns, lead us on an historically accurate journey into the world of ‘what if.’  Check out this mystery book new on Kindle for under $5.  A must read raves best selling authors C.J. West and Jodi Thomas.

Don’t believe me? Well, just check out the “most helpful” review on Amazon:

Marilyn LIVES!!… No, she is NOT walking down the street with Elvis in Philly looking to buy a good cheesesteak….Elvis is NOT with us and if he was.. Would he and Marilyn HONESTLY be looking for the best cheesesteak???

What She Knew is a fiction of a What IF! book …. What If Marilyn had not died? What If she was saved and hidden away?? What if the reason someone tried to kill her was because of What She Knew……????

What She Knew by authors K. R. Hughes and T. L. Burns is a work of fiction with a lot of true life intertwined into it. These girls KNOW how to tell a story! In this story Marilyn Doesn’t die… Bobby Kennedy and Peter Lawford save her and replace her with another Marilyn… WHY? Because Marilyn is their friend and she has some secrets that they ALL need to find in order to save the President.

You may think this is a total thriller book, but it’s not. We have romance, Bobby Kennedy Loves his wife Ethel and it shows in all parts of this novel. We also have some comedy! Rose Kennedy lends so much comedy to this novel and I can SO relate to her feelings and attitudes towards her family…

Rose may not seem to be one of the main characters in this book because it revolves around Marilyn, and her fight to be heard and understood in the possible assignation of President Kennedy, but these ladies figured out what works for a book. What works are believable characters and what we all want in the end, intrigue, mystery, and romance.

You can find this and so much MORE in What She Knew. The characters are fully developed, from the lowest to the highest. I feel what they ALL feel. I want to run out and beat LBJ with a stick, how DARE he do what he did!! But on the same note I want to Hug Jackie and tell her I feel your pain.

Kim and Tami do their best to take us into the nitty gritty of the seamier side of politics. They show us what *could* have happened, had Marilyn not died, and What She might have known to get her killed. From there the story unravels slowly but surely….Marilyn gets pissed and goes to her own funeral!!?? What’s the fallout from that?

As time grows closer and closer to the assignation of the President the questions remain. Will Bobby and Peter figure out the clues..? Will Marilyn give them everything they need to figure out this deadly plot? You are gonna have to read this 5 star page turner to find out!!  –   Tasha Turner
