What an amazing book! I loved the book and I loved the cover. The emotion in that young women on the cover shows exactually what Jasmine was feeling. The characters made me think of all the young people who have had to deal with the same situations as Jasmine and her friends. This book should be read by all young women and all MOTHERS. Samantha has a gift. Let’s see what her next book is about!!!

Workaholic real estate agent Carol Brock can’t seem to find a good man. Her first husband cheated with a law clerk less than half his age. Devin’s offer unwittingly unleashes a psychopathic rage in an ex-girlfriend that spills into Carol’s life. As she and Devin try to stay one step ahead of violence, Carol must decide whether she’s ready to risk her heart again.

This reader gave it five stars!

I gave the first one in this series only four stars but this one gets five. The character development has improved and although I still think the characters are just a little bit too good to be true, it’s satisfying to have everyone behave the way we would like them to – or at least the main characters. Only one small irritation – the author really needs a visit from the grammar police.
The main character, a tough and savvy Real Estate Agent, has a habit of jumping into relationships too soon and winding up with jerks. This time she tries to slow down when she meets a wonderful, sexy man but this one really does seem to be “the real deal” and it’s fun to go along on this journey of discovery with her. The characters from the first book are back, charming and smart as ever. These are people you’d love to have for your very best friends.
You’re not going to have to think very hard to know where all this is leading and what the ultimate outcome will be but it’s a good read for getting away from real life for awhile with a cup of tea and a plate of cookies.  –  SuziDecorator

The year is 1974, and aspiring songwriter Casey Bradley is just eighteen years old when handsome, charismatic singer Danny Fiore sweeps into her life and turns it upside down.  The first time she looks into Danny’s turbulent blue eyes, Casey is ready to toss aside her entire future for a man who will almost certainly break her heart.

Together with guitar wizard Rob MacKenzie, Casey writes the songs that catapult Danny to a fame beyond their wildest imaginings.  But life with Danny isn’t what she expected.  The road to success is loaded with land mines, and rivers of darkness flow through her troubled marriage.  Every time Danny breaks her heart, it’s Rob who picks her up, dusts her off, and glues the pieces back together.

It isn’t until she suffers an unimaginable loss that Casey begins to question who she is and what she really wants from life. As she searches for herself amid the wreckage, she discovers the bittersweet truth that the choices a woman makes at thirty can differ vastly from those she made at eighteen.

COMING HOME is a poignant story about the seasons of a woman’s heart, and the roundabout route we sometimes have to take to get to where we’re meant to be.

This reviewer would recommend EVERYONE read this book!

I was mesmerized by the characters. Mainly Rob. I’m in love. I don’t want to give plot points away but this book made me cry in a heartbreaking way. Love and loss and love again. I could picture every moment and I think they should make a movie out of this book. Just saying that I loved it wouldn’t do it justice. Bravo, Laurie Breton!!! You have a fan for life.   –  Jerri Drennen

GOLDEN REVIEW Book! “Maven Fairy Godmother: Through the Veil” by Charlotte Henley Babb

“ This was a fast, fun, funny read. ” – Marie C. Cordalis

Download “Maven Fairy Godmother” NOW!

Maven’s new dream job–fairy godmother–presents more problems than she expects when she learns that Faery is on the verge of collapse, and the person who is training her isn’t giving her the facts–and may be out to kill her. Will she be able to make all the fractured fairy tales fit together into a happy ending, or will she be eaten by a troll?

This reader loved it!

When I saw the title of this book, I thought this book would be about a Jewish mother type (no offense–we have them, too) who was used to interfering in other people’s lives and somehow became a fairy godmother. I didn’t expect Maven to be an out-of-work teacher living in her car who wasn’t quite sure what she was doing when she was recruited to save both Faery and Mundane. It made the book even more fun than I expected. Maven stumbles through the book never quite sure what she’s doing, but following her gut and her “Bump of Direction” with help from a hissy, disturbing familiar. Or is it help? Maybe.

In her bio at the back of the book, Ms. Babb quoted Lazarus Long, a character created by Robert A. Heinlein: “Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.” Here, here! While I don’t exactly see the Old Man in fae, he did admire good writing and this is good writing. So you need to read this book at least twice. She also cited Terry Pratchett as a favorite author. To that, I say–Granny Weatherwax would have a good cackle over this one. I had several, and so will you.  –  Rochelle Weber

GOLDEN REVIEW Book! 50/50 and Other Stories” by Matthew W. McFarland

“ Each story was very descriptive and pulled me in I felt as though I was in each story I read. ”  – Tammy Hall

Download “Fifty/Fifty and Other Stories” NOW!

Fifty/Fifty and Other Stories is a collection of eleven outstanding short stories by Northern Irish author Matthew W. McFarland.

In ‘Fifty/Fifty’, a policeman is called out to an attempted suicide on the iconic Forth Rail Bridge. His previous experience with ‘jumpers’ has led to one death and one life saved – his current record is fifty/fifty, but all that is about to change.

In ‘Defenestration’, a man is thrown from the twelfth storey of a building in mysterious circumstances. As he falls towards almost certain death, he contemplates his fate, killer whales, flying cats, and the untapped potential of the human mind.

In ‘The Burning Bar’, a man enters a burning building to rescue the love of his life, and becomes trapped, as the whole place collapses around him. Will he manage to escape before it is too late?

‘What Have You Done?’ deals with the legacy of the conflict in Northern Ireland, as a civil servant comes face to face with an ex-terrorist, leading him to discover how the previous generation coped with living through the worst of the Troubles.

These, and seven other stories, touching on sport, fatherhood, arachnophobia, faith, and cannibalism, make up an exciting collection of short fiction which will leave readers wanting more.

This reader loved it!

A great collection of short stories with interesting characters and themes. A lot of the stories are very amusing and some of them are really thought-provoking. My two favorite stories from the collection are Defenestration and Wee Tiny Spiders, but I think What Have You done? and Fifty/Fifty are also particularly well written. I hope to be able to read more of this authors work in the future.

Tyson Barrett used to be happy. Used to have a wife, a son, a thriving business. Now he has nothing. Just long, sleepless nights broken only by nightmares so terrifying they threaten his sanity. So when he discovers an underground drug trial that will “cure” him, he jumps at the chance.

Everything seems great until things from Tyson’s dreams start showing up in his waking life. Items from a dark past he thought he left buried at Sunnybrook Asylum. And when the nightmares threaten to return in full force, eerie trinkets aren’t the only things waiting to come through.

Now Tyson must face a terror that has stalked him since childhood or risk losing everything he holds dear.

The mind is full of halls. And some of the darkest passages lead to rooms better left closed.

Dark Passage is a terrifying thriller in the tradition of Stephen King and Dean Koontz.

BONUS CONTENT: an excerpt from Hive, a post-apocalyptic zombie novella.

This reader gave it five stars!

Griffin digs his nails in with his horror story. And leaves claw marks you won’t forget.

Tyson an insomniac joins a test subject for meds to help one sleep. All seems good, plus the fact you can pull things outta your dreams.

If dreams come true what’s the catch. Tyson finds that out the hard way. Digging up his past he did not know about.

Griffin’s Wes Craven twist is sure to call out Mr. Sandman and help you sleep at night ….. well maybe. A terrifying 5 stars.  –  Donald Armfield

***1st place winner of the Reader Views Literary Award 2010 in the Young Reader category***

Lord Arkus of Blackriver Castle readily admits that he is a villain and sees no reason why it should stop him from being the protagonist of this book. After all, Prince Kellemar, an aspiring hero, has defeated him in a rather questionable way. Bent on revenge, Arkus attempts to capture a powerful evil spirit who would make him nearly invincible, but a last-minute mistake leaves him with a Sparkling instead—“a goody-goody spirit that helps heroes, watches over little children, and messes up villains’ plans.” Bound to Lord Arkus for five years of service and sworn to act in his best interests, the Sparkling is not easy to get rid of, and of course his understanding of “best interests” is quite different from what Lord Arkus has in mind.

My Sparkling Misfortune is Book 1 of The Lakeland Knight series. It is approximately 33,000 words (126 pages in the printed edition). Includes 10 black-and-white illustrations. It it also available as an audiobook.

This reader loved it!

I needed a light fantasy after reading a horribly depressing book with a wimpy heroine. This book fit the bill. It is a delightful story I thoroughly enjoyed. It is not a childish story. I would read a sequel in a heartbeat and I do think Lord Arkus’ story should continue. Very well written and is very imaginative. I highly recommend. ?wazithinkin

That this is a first novel by Vanna Smythe is wonderful surprise. She not only tells a great story with characters and she also brings her world to life. The developing relationship between Issi and Kae is brought on steadily and at a pace that fits well with the story -the author expresses the character feelings very well. This book has certainly left me wanting more and I look forward to the next installment eagerly.Sparta

“ Passionately he leads you through a personal journey filled with adventure, love, faith and hope. ”–  Dawn Achilles

Download “Path Of Three Hundred” NOW!

This story is about a man who finally decides to take off on his own for a time and listen to himself…his Inner Voice. The journey in a physical sense is an open ocean solo sailing adventure. Yet, as the main character Petah experiences Life along the physical path he has chosen, he begins to understand a certain way of being which had always existed in his core…he just didn’t know how to maintain the Way…it would drift away from time to time until he would see it again. As the story is being read by an individual, it is my hope that you will be able to feel the journey of challenges for your Self and make it your own. For perhaps many or all of us…there have existed people in our lives who tell us what we “should” or “need” to do. Sometimes, we may feel in our inner Being what we think is right, yet we listen to others and sometimes let them make decisions for Us. When the Universe says to us… “OK…let’s try this again, only this time you’re going to go through something even more intense…perhaps this time, you’ll get it.” Perhaps take the leap of Faith requested of you….you never know what you may find.
