ON A REVIEW SITE:
When I was asked to review this book, I couldn’t wait to get started. It seemed like it was going to be an amazing and inspirational read. My Beauty for Your Ashes was better than I thought it was going to be, and I already had pretty high expectations.
There are four main characters, and the book is almost written as four stories, but all of them have the same main theme. Each character is very well developed and you can almost feel their pain and struggles seeping through the pages and into your own soul.
Through their struggles you will see parallels into your own life and how God’s love will shine through, even in the very darkest of times, if you trust in Him.
As a Christian I really enjoyed this novel, however I think that anyone would enjoy it unless you are strongly opposed to all things religious.
From the author of A Symphony from Heaven, comes a spell-binding, completely captivating fiction.
If you could exchange every failed attempt at happiness for God’s joy…would you?
Elder Paige Morganson has worked hard to overcome the anger, hate and abuse of her past. With God’s help, she believes healing and wholeness is within her grasp, when she is propelled into a world of secrets and lies that threaten to unravel the very thread of hope she’s clung to in her struggle for peace.
Mason Jenson is a self-made man who has been able to create his own fortune and build a home life with his wife and child, void of God’s help – so he thinks. However, as the world he knows balances precariously on the edge of destruction, who will he turn to?
Elder Brandon Tatum, new in town, has prided himself on not making a move until he’s heard from God, but even as he accepts his new position in ministry, he is faced with decisions of the heart; a whole new territory for him.
Victoria Branchett has ruthlessly survived the death of her only daughter by fierce determination, but is the strength she has relied upon enough to see her through a failing marriage and an ailing grandchild?
As they sift through the debris of past dreams and hopes left by the wayside they are offered a lifeline and given an opportunity to receive God’s beauty for their ashes…
“My Beauty For Your Ashes” is a well written novel with a clear message of God’s grace overcoming human frailties and tragedies. The characters come to life as they struggle with betrayal, anger, accidents, sickness, death, hope and forgiveness. The author successfully portrays the family dynamics in relationships with the local church. While the characters struggle with issues like abortion, pornography, rape and unbelief the author is always clear in her emphasis that the Biblical values are true.
I strongly recommend this novel to teenagers and young adult readers who desperately need to have positive reinforcement of the Christian World View.
