“ Realistic characters, engaging dialogue, and detailed descriptions of setting make this story one to add to your to-read list. ” – saniko
Workaholic real estate agent Carol Brock can’t seem to find a good man. Her first husband cheated with a law clerk less than half his age. Then she found herself in a string of bad relationships with unscrupulous men, including a con man and art thief, who shredded her professional reputation and strained her relationship with her college-age children. Carol has sworn off men and is determined to reclaim her life and career on her terms. But, when Boston’s most eligible bachelor, restoration specialist Devin Elliott, puts in an offer on a charming Victorian, Carol admits she’s attracted. Devin’s offer unwittingly unleashes a psychopathic rage in an ex-girlfriend that spills into Carol’s life. As she and Devin try to stay one step ahead of violence, Carol must decide whether she’s ready to risk her heart again.
This reader gave it five stars!
I gave the first one in this series only four stars but this one gets five. The character development has improved and although I still think the characters are just a little bit too good to be true, it’s satisfying to have everyone behave the way we would like them to – or at least the main characters. Only one small irritation – the author really needs a visit from the grammar police.
The main character, a tough and savvy Real Estate Agent, has a habit of jumping into relationships too soon and winding up with jerks. This time she tries to slow down when she meets a wonderful, sexy man but this one really does seem to be “the real deal” and it’s fun to go along on this journey of discovery with her. The characters from the first book are back, charming and smart as ever. These are people you’d love to have for your very best friends.
You’re not going to have to think very hard to know where all this is leading and what the ultimate outcome will be but it’s a good read for getting away from real life for awhile with a cup of tea and a plate of cookies. – SuziDecorator
